NOTE: from the perspective of kernel.org releases, CVE IDs are not normally used for drivers/staging/* (unfinished work); however, system integrators may have situations in which a drivers/staging issue is relevant to their own customer base. | |||||
| CVE-2021-22543 | 4 Debian, Fedoraproject, Linux and 1 more | 21 Debian Linux, Fedora, Linux Kernel and 18 more | 2023-11-09 | 4.6 MEDIUM | 7.8 HIGH |
| An issue was discovered in Linux: KVM through Improper handling of VM_IO|VM_PFNMAP vmas in KVM can bypass RO checks and can lead to pages being freed while still accessible by the VMM and guest. This allows users with the ability to start and control a VM to read/write random pages of memory and can result in local privilege escalation. | |||||
| CVE-2021-4044 | 3 Netapp, Nodejs, Openssl | 26 500f, 500f Firmware, A250 and 23 more | 2023-11-09 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
| Internally libssl in OpenSSL calls X509_verify_cert() on the client side to verify a certificate supplied by a server. That function may return a negative return value to indicate an internal error (for example out of memory). Such a negative return value is mishandled by OpenSSL and will cause an IO function (such as SSL_connect() or SSL_do_handshake()) to not indicate success and a subsequent call to SSL_get_error() to return the value SSL_ERROR_WANT_RETRY_VERIFY. This return value is only supposed to be returned by OpenSSL if the application has previously called SSL_CTX_set_cert_verify_callback(). Since most applications do not do this the SSL_ERROR_WANT_RETRY_VERIFY return value from SSL_get_error() will be totally unexpected and applications may not behave correctly as a result. The exact behaviour will depend on the application but it could result in crashes, infinite loops or other similar incorrect responses. This issue is made more serious in combination with a separate bug in OpenSSL 3.0 that will cause X509_verify_cert() to indicate an internal error when processing a certificate chain. This will occur where a certificate does not include the Subject Alternative Name extension but where a Certificate Authority has enforced name constraints. This issue can occur even with valid chains. By combining the two issues an attacker could induce incorrect, application dependent behaviour. Fixed in OpenSSL 3.0.1 (Affected 3.0.0). | |||||
| CVE-2019-20388 | 6 Debian, Fedoraproject, Netapp and 3 more | 31 Debian Linux, Fedora, Cloud Backup and 28 more | 2023-11-09 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |

| A local privilege escalation was discovered in the Linux kernel before 5.10.13. Multiple race conditions in the AF_VSOCK implementation are caused by wrong locking in net/vmw_vsock/af_vsock.c. The race conditions were implicitly introduced in the commits that added VSOCK multi-transport support. | |||||
| CVE-2021-31440 | 2 Linux, Netapp | 18 Linux Kernel, Cloud Backup, H300e and 15 more | 2023-08-11 | 6.9 MEDIUM | 7.0 HIGH |
| This vulnerability allows local attackers to escalate privileges on affected installations of Linux Kernel 5.11.15. An attacker must first obtain the ability to execute low-privileged code on the target system in order to exploit this vulnerability. The specific flaw exists within the handling of eBPF programs. The issue results from the lack of proper validation of user-supplied eBPF programs prior to executing them. An attacker can leverage this vulnerability to escalate privileges and execute arbitrary code in the context of the kernel. Was ZDI-CAN-13661. | |||||
| CVE-2021-41073 | 4 Debian, Fedoraproject, Linux and 1 more | 21 Debian Linux, Fedora, Linux Kernel and 18 more | 2023-08-08 | 7.2 HIGH | 7.8 HIGH |
| loop_rw_iter in fs/io_uring.c in the Linux kernel 5.10 through 5.14.6 allows local users to gain privileges by using IORING_OP_PROVIDE_BUFFERS to trigger a free of a kernel buffer, as demonstrated by using /proc/<pid>/maps for exploitation. | |||||
| CVE-2020-25668 | 3 Debian, Linux, Netapp | 26 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel, 500f and 23 more | 2023-07-28 | 6.9 MEDIUM | 7.0 HIGH |

| A race condition in Linux kernel SCTP sockets (net/sctp/socket.c) before 5.12-rc8 can lead to kernel privilege escalation from the context of a network service or an unprivileged process. If sctp_destroy_sock is called without sock_net(sk)->sctp.addr_wq_lock then an element is removed from the auto_asconf_splist list without any proper locking. This can be exploited by an attacker with network service privileges to escalate to root or from the context of an unprivileged user directly if a BPF_CGROUP_INET_SOCK_CREATE is attached which denies creation of some SCTP socket. | |||||
| CVE-2021-20226 | 2 Linux, Netapp | 2 Linux Kernel, Cloud Backup | 2023-07-28 | 6.1 MEDIUM | 7.8 HIGH |
| A use-after-free flaw was found in the io_uring in Linux kernel, where a local attacker with a user privilege could cause a denial of service problem on the system The issue results from the lack of validating the existence of an object prior to performing operations on the object by not incrementing the file reference counter while in use. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to data integrity, confidentiality and system availability. | |||||

| A flaw was found in the Linux kernel in versions before 5.12. The value of internal.ndata, in the KVM API, is mapped to an array index, which can be updated by a user process at anytime which could lead to an out-of-bounds write. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to data integrity and system availability. | |||||
| CVE-2021-33200 | 3 Fedoraproject, Linux, Netapp | 19 Fedora, Linux Kernel, Cloud Backup and 16 more | 2022-05-13 | 7.2 HIGH | 7.8 HIGH |
| kernel/bpf/verifier.c in the Linux kernel through 5.12.7 enforces incorrect limits for pointer arithmetic operations, aka CID-bb01a1bba579. This can be abused to perform out-of-bounds reads and writes in kernel memory, leading to local privilege escalation to root. In particular, there is a corner case where the off reg causes a masking direction change, which then results in an incorrect final aux->alu_limit. | |||||
| CVE-2020-25669 | 3 Debian, Linux, Netapp | 21 Debian Linux, Linux Kernel, Cloud Backup and 18 more | 2022-05-13 | 7.2 HIGH | 7.8 HIGH |
