| An issue was discovered in libxml2 before 2.10.3. Certain invalid XML entity definitions can corrupt a hash table key, potentially leading to subsequent logic errors. In one case, a double-free can be provoked. | |||||
| CVE-2022-29824 | 4 Debian, Fedoraproject, Netapp and 1 more | 13 Debian Linux, Fedora, Active Iq Unified Manager and 10 more | 2022-07-25 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 6.5 MEDIUM |
| In libxml2 before 2.9.14, several buffer handling functions in buf.c (xmlBuf*) and tree.c (xmlBuffer*) don't check for integer overflows. This can result in out-of-bounds memory writes. Exploitation requires a victim to open a crafted, multi-gigabyte XML file. Other software using libxml2's buffer functions, for example libxslt through 1.1.35, is affected as well. | |||||
| CVE-2022-23308 | 5 Apple, Debian, Fedoraproject and 2 more | 36 Ipados, Iphone Os, Macos and 33 more | 2022-07-25 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
| valid.c in libxml2 before 2.9.13 has a use-after-free of ID and IDREF attributes. | |||||
| CVE-2021-3537 | 6 Debian, Fedoraproject, Netapp and 3 more | 20 Debian Linux, Fedora, Active Iq Unified Manager and 17 more | 2022-07-25 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 5.9 MEDIUM |
| A vulnerability found in libxml2 in versions before 2.9.11 shows that it did not propagate errors while parsing XML mixed content, causing a NULL dereference. If an untrusted XML document was parsed in recovery mode and post-validated, the flaw could be used to crash the application. The highest threat from this vulnerability is to system availability. | |||||
| CVE-2021-3518 | 6 Debian, Fedoraproject, Netapp and 3 more | 16 Debian Linux, Fedora, Active Iq Unified Manager and 13 more | 2022-07-25 | 6.8 MEDIUM | 8.8 HIGH |
| There's a flaw in libxml2 in versions before 2.9.11. An attacker who is able to submit a crafted file to be processed by an application linked with libxml2 could trigger a use-after-free. The greatest impact from this flaw is to confidentiality, integrity, and availability. | |||||
| CVE-2021-3517 | 6 Debian, Fedoraproject, Netapp and 3 more | 26 Debian Linux, Fedora, Active Iq Unified Manager and 23 more | 2022-07-25 | 7.5 HIGH | 8.6 HIGH |
| There is a flaw in the xml entity encoding functionality of libxml2 in versions before 2.9.11. An attacker who is able to supply a crafted file to be processed by an application linked with the affected functionality of libxml2 could trigger an out-of-bounds read. The most likely impact of this flaw is to application availability, with some potential impact to confidentiality and integrity if an attacker is able to use memory information to further exploit the application. | |||||
| CVE-2020-24977 | 6 Debian, Fedoraproject, Netapp and 3 more | 19 Debian Linux, Fedora, Active Iq Unified Manager and 16 more | 2022-07-25 | 6.4 MEDIUM | 6.5 MEDIUM |

| CVE-2022-2309 | 2 Lxml, Xmlsoft | 2 Lxml, Libxml2 | 2022-07-13 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
| NULL Pointer Dereference allows attackers to cause a denial of service (or application crash). This only applies when lxml is used together with libxml2 2.9.10 through 2.9.14. libxml2 2.9.9 and earlier are not affected. It allows triggering crashes through forged input data, given a vulnerable code sequence in the application. The vulnerability is caused by the iterwalk function (also used by the canonicalize function). Such code shouldn't be in wide-spread use, given that parsing + iterwalk would usually be replaced with the more efficient iterparse function. However, an XML converter that serialises to C14N would also be vulnerable, for example, and there are legitimate use cases for this code sequence. If untrusted input is received (also remotely) and processed via iterwalk function, a crash can be triggered. | |||||
| CVE-2021-3541 | 2 Redhat, Xmlsoft | 2 Jboss Core Services, Libxml2 | 2022-02-07 | 4.0 MEDIUM | 6.5 MEDIUM |

NOTE: this vulnerability may be a duplicate of CVE-2016-3627. | |||||
| CVE-2017-9047 | 1 Xmlsoft | 1 Libxml2 | 2021-06-29 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
| A buffer overflow was discovered in libxml2 20904-GITv2.9.4-16-g0741801. The function xmlSnprintfElementContent in valid.c is supposed to recursively dump the element content definition into a char buffer 'buf' of size 'size'. The variable len is assigned strlen(buf). If the content->type is XML_ELEMENT_CONTENT_ELEMENT, then (i) the content->prefix is appended to buf (if it actually fits) whereupon (ii) content->name is written to the buffer. However, the check for whether the content->name actually fits also uses 'len' rather than the updated buffer length strlen(buf). This allows us to write about "size" many bytes beyond the allocated memory. This vulnerability causes programs that use libxml2, such as PHP, to crash. | |||||
| CVE-2017-9048 | 1 Xmlsoft | 1 Libxml2 | 2021-06-29 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
| libxml2 20904-GITv2.9.4-16-g0741801 is vulnerable to a stack-based buffer overflow. The function xmlSnprintfElementContent in valid.c is supposed to recursively dump the element content definition into a char buffer 'buf' of size 'size'. At the end of the routine, the function may strcat two more characters without checking whether the current strlen(buf) + 2 < size. This vulnerability causes programs that use libxml2, such as PHP, to crash. | |||||
| CVE-2017-9050 | 1 Xmlsoft | 1 Libxml2 | 2021-06-29 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |
| libxml2 20904-GITv2.9.4-16-g0741801 is vulnerable to a heap-based buffer over-read in the xmlDictAddString function in dict.c. This vulnerability causes programs that use libxml2, such as PHP, to crash. This vulnerability exists because of an incomplete fix for CVE-2016-1839. | |||||
| CVE-2017-16932 | 1 Xmlsoft | 1 Libxml2 | 2021-06-29 | 5.0 MEDIUM | 7.5 HIGH |

| CVE-2016-9318 | 3 Canonical, Xmlsec Project, Xmlsoft | 3 Ubuntu Linux, Xmlsec, Libxml2 | 2020-12-31 | 4.3 MEDIUM | 5.5 MEDIUM |
| libxml2 2.9.4 and earlier, as used in XMLSec 1.2.23 and earlier and other products, does not offer a flag directly indicating that the current document may be read but other files may not be opened, which makes it easier for remote attackers to conduct XML External Entity (XXE) attacks via a crafted document. | |||||
